Cabaret

Hello, I'm Alex Grigsby, and for my part of the project I will be putting together and organizing the cabaret in the first half of the performance night.

A cabaret is different than a main stage musical production as the pieces are typically performed without costumes, sets, or props, and is performed with just piano or other instruments, highlighting the song itself. However, all of the songs performed will be from other musicals, singer-songwriters, or popular music opposed to original songs like in "Dear Juliet". The cabaret will also be inspired by the plot and themes in "Dear Juliet".

For many years, I have seen or participated in cabarets, both locally or in New York City. After being around them for so long, I was extremely excited to be in charge and put together one myself. I have carefully chosen specific songs--either solos, duets, trios, or quartets--that relate to moments in the show that the characters experience. Like the musical, it will be the same four women singing, expressing similar emotions regarding love and heartbreak.
